Rounders, Prizes and one final push

Date: 12th May 2019 @ 9:17am

Congratulations to the Rounders team who, on Tuesday night, qualified for the semi-finals of the competition.  We have a lot to live up to, having got to the County Finals last year, so I was really pleased with the success of Mrs McBride and her team.  It was tough group with Whitchurch, HInstock and eventual group winners, Longlands, all bringing good sided to the tournament.  But with two wins, we went through and now play for a place in the final on Tuesday 21st May.

We were really pleased to hear that one of Class 3 won a local competition to design a poster for The Factory Shop in Market Drayton.  The winning design will be shown in store and our winning artist now goes through to the national final for a chance of winning £1000 for the school!

Of course, a lot of our efforts this week have been around getting ready for next week's SATs.  I know that Year 6 have been working really hard to make sure they show what hey can do, in these important end of Key Stage assessments.  Just to recap, the test are on:

Monday 13th May - Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling Test, Spelling Test

Tuesday 14th May - Reading Test

Wednesday 15th May - Arithmetic Test, Maths Reasoning Test

Thursday 16th May - Maths Reasoning Test

All the tests are taking place in the morning, so we need Year 6 in bright eyed and bushy tailed each day this week.  Year 5 too, as they are taking their Summer Assessments also!

We've still managed to find time to work on Geography and Science topics - looking at the Americas (also the topic for our homework) and how our lungs work, and how to keep them healthy.

A quick reminder, that Tuesday is Forest School this week.
