Class 2 Pottery

Lesson: Art and design

Class: Class 2 Year: 2021 - 2022

We have been working on some 3D art this term, using clay to make some Roman-inspred coil pots.  We went through a variety of stages through research, practice, planning and making to create some really special pieces of work.  The children were very proud of their work.

We learnt that pottery in Roman times was really disposable (a bit like plastic waste today).  We looked at how artists like Grayson Perry use pottery to share parts of their personality and interests.  Mrs Ward came in to give us a masterclass in coil making!

For our final pieces we wanted to use carving and relief work to really add depth to our designs.
