Whittington Castle

Date: 26th May 2022 @ 3:16pm

All this term the children in Class 1 are learning about Castles, Queens and Kings. This week we went on our trip to Whittington Castle and a fantastic day was had by all. The whole Class got to dress up as Squires (Knights in training) as we toured the castle and grounds with our lovely guides. We learned all about Lady Eleanor and how Thomas Telford had taken stone from the castle wall to build roads. The children got to cross the drawbridge and head into the dungeon. We returned to our tower classroom, where children got to take part in a Mediaeval life workshop, we learned about the use of herbs and got to inspect some Medieval Groats. After that children completed their Daily mile by doing 3 laps of Lady Eleanor's Garden then back to the tower for crown making. Before we headed home, we could not resist getting locked in the stocks.
