Friends of Woore School (FOWS) Mission Statement

(Charity Number 1050569)

Who are we?

In its’ time, Friends of Woore School has raised many thousands of pounds for Woore Primary & Nursery School. The money has been spent on school equipment, library replenishment, the Pirate Ship and last year we raised enough to purchase eight brand new iPads. Every year we make it our mission to provide the school with financial support for a huge variety of resources - enhancing the schools facilities and in turn, the children’s education experience.

FOWS continually encourage good relations with Woore’s Headteacher Mrs Ward, its teaching staff, parents and other groups associated with the school and local community.

What is our Vision?

That all children of Woore Primary and Nursery School have access to a safe and caring environment, one that encourages and fosters educational excellence and a life-long love of learning.

What is our Purpose?

To provide timely financial and practical assistance to Woore Primary and Nursery School through the efforts of fundraising, in order to help the School ensure that children are not limited in their attainment due to lack of resources.

What is our Mission?

A continued commitment to supporting Woore Primary and Nursery School with financial contributions through the work of volunteers and fundraising initiatives, in order to support the school in its’ efforts to deliver education excellence.

What are our Values and Beliefs?

We believe that financial support in a time of need can make a difference to people’s lives and that in the case of Woore Primary and Nursery School, to the well-being and prospects of the children. By appreciating the strength of combined knowledge and skills we encourage creativity and collaboration both with parents, pupils, teachers and the wider community.

Our values are simple.

  • Support
  • Creativity
  • Knowledge
  • Collaboration
  • Friendship

Our values shape what we do. We welcome all volunteers and really do value the individual contributions of our members and supporters. We believe that by working together, we increase our effectiveness to ensure that the school is supported in delivering the children’s educational success and well-being and that this is at the forefront of each fundraising activity and event.

Most importantly, FOWS is not driven by hierarchy, individual egos or reward and acknowledgment. It is driven by a shared passion of ‘friends’ of the school, coming together to make a difference. We have fun with whatever we do - whether that is behind the scenes when organising an event or taking part in a fun-run. Fun is at the core of everything that we do.

Want to get involved?

However much time you have to spare – there are ways you can get involved.

FOWS meet one evening a month and have dedicated trustees and committee members that are actively involved in the planning and organisation of fundraising initiatives. New members are welcomed to those meetings.

Additionally, we are always looking for supporters and volunteers who would prefer to just help at events or maybe even bring to the team a skill or connection that would add value and expertise.

Whichever route suits you, FOWS would love to welcome you to the team. And importantly…

  • You’ll feel more connected to the local school.
  • You’ll be part of a great network – it’s a great way to meet new people.
  • You’ll make a real difference.
  • You’ll be part of the children’s fond memories of their early school years!
  • You’ll have fun. That we can promise!
