History

At Woore Primary and Nursery School we know that our children love learning about the past.  Across the school, the children are engaged in our thorough schemes of work which help us to deliver the needs of the curriculum and move the children from pre-history to the present day.  We use Plan Bee materials to support our planning and delivery.

We ensure that children are also developing their sense of chronology as they move through the school.  Our classes use a two year rolling programme to ensure that they are taught the required syllabus and are ready to move to the next stage of their study.  We adress our local history through exploring our village counity and how it has changed over time.

As well as giving History its place in our weekly timetables we also endeavour to provide our children with the opportunity to visit historical sites and museums, and to handle artefacts from different periods.  The children are asked to create homework projects based on their current topic of study and we are always amazed at the effort, enthusiasm and time the children put into this.
