For a small school we are extremely proud of the PE and sports that our children are given the opportunity to experience. In 2022 we received the Platinum Award as part of the School Games Awards.
During their time here at Woore, the children will enjoy a range of popular and unfamilar sports. See our overview for more details.
Our mixed age classes are able to build their foundation skills in Class 1 and then apply them as they move through the school in more competitive experiences in Class 2 and Class 3. We hold house competitions in school and take part in district competitions in sports ranging from netball to hockey, gymnastics to archery. PE lessons are delivered by our own experienced staff.
We are proud to say that we have recently achieved the Sainsbury's School Games Platinum award which is the highest possible to receive. We are really proud of our School Sports participation both at level 1 and level 2, internally and when competing with other local schools.
We make links with a variety of local clubs and have welcomed coaches and visitors from Shrewsbury Town FC, Stoke City FC, Shropshire Cricket, Shropshire Tennis and have held a whole school skipping day.
Every child in school takes part in the Daily Mile as we seek to give our children their 60 minutes of daily activity.
Children in classes 2 and 3 go swimming with the school every year, as we feel that this is not just important from a health and activity standpoint but is also an important life skill.
